Originality Matters
The plagiarism and improper use of text/content is taken seriously by the journal as an unethical practice in academic publishing.
Examples of plagiarism include using other people’s ideas, words, data, images, results, or any other intellectual output as one’s own.
What May Be Screened?
The journal may screen manuscripts for different forms of plagiarism, overlap, and improper reuse of published material.
Direct Text Plagiarism
Use of another source's text without appropriate attribution.
Unattributed Paraphrasing
Rephrasing another source's work without appropriate acknowledgement.
Duplicate Publication
Reuse or publication of substantially overlapping work without appropriate disclosure.
Significant Text Overlap
Substantial similarity between submitted content and existing material.
Reuse Without Disclosure
Reuse of previously published material without appropriate disclosure.
Misrepresentation of Sources
Incorrect or misleading representation of the sources used in the manuscript.
Similarity Is Evaluated in Context
Screening for plagiarism or similarity can be carried out using software as part of the process of evaluating the manuscript by the editors.
A similarity percentage cannot on its own be used to prove plagiarism. The editors may evaluate the nature, place, source, and context of the similarity.
If Plagiarism Is Identified
Depending on the severity and stage of the case, the journal may take appropriate action.

Corrections or Revisions
Ask for corrections or revisions where appropriate.
Reject the Manuscript
Reject the manuscript depending on the circumstances and severity of the case.
Contact Relevant Institutions
Contact relevant institutions where appropriate.
Correction or Retraction
Issue a correction or retraction for published material where applicable.
Additional Ethical Action
Take additional action consistent with publication ethics.
